Design Techniques

Point of No Return

I used Point of No Return because I wanted to make it impossible for the player to turn back once they reached this point.

Leading Lines

I wanted to guide the player to the right so that they dont run directly in to a wall to the left

Hard Reveal

In this area I wanted to immediately reveal the final area right after dropping down, I also wanted to make it impossible for the player to return.

Blockout Process

Referenser

Gathering references

I began this project by gathering reference pictures with the theme i wanted to set the experience in.

Blockout & Playtest

A rough blockout helped me get a feel for the scale of the level. I began playtesting to see what worked and what I needed to iterate. I started to refine the level once I felt the level flow was good. I made sure to keep playtesting and asking others for playtests to find out wich areas needed to be improved.

Reflections

The initial plan for this project was to create a level in space, but when I started working on the space suit for the character it starter to look more like power armor then a space suit so I decided that the theme for this project would be warhammer.

I would have liked to spend more time refining the combat arenas. With more iteration, I could have made them more engaging and fitting for the overall experience, bringing the level to new heights.

Furthermore, I would like to make the environment more interactive for the player, allowing them to use certain objects to make the gameplay even more engaging and interesting.
