Design Techniques

Foreshadow
I wanted to foreshadow the end goal of the level to immerse the player
Backtracking
I wanted to reuse the level instead of creating another to escape and to let the player experience the level from a different perspective

Monster Closet
In this area I wanted to immediately reveal the new enemies right after the player completed their goal
Blockout Process

Gathering references
I began this project by gathering reference pictures with the theme i wanted to set the experience in.
Blockout & Playtest
A rough blockout helped me get a feel for the scale of the level. I began playtesting to see what worked and what I needed to iterate. I started to refine the level once I felt the level flow was good. I made sure to keep playtesting and asking others for playtests to find out wich areas needed to be improved.
